Publication Ethics

Ethics & Malpractice

JLPIS follows the Core Practices and guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Editors, authors and reviewers are all expected to meet the standards below.

Authors

  • Submit only original work, and cite all sources properly.
  • Do not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal at a time.
  • List as authors only those who made a substantial contribution.
  • Disclose funding sources and any conflicts of interest.
  • Disclose any use of generative AI tools in research or writing. AI tools cannot be listed as authors.
  • Report significant errors in published work to the editors promptly.

Reviewers

  • Treat manuscripts as confidential documents.
  • Give objective, constructive and timely reviews.
  • Declare conflicts of interest and decline reviews where one exists.
  • Do not upload manuscripts to AI tools or use unpublished material for their own work.

Editors

  • Judge manuscripts only on their academic merit and relevance.
  • Keep the review process confidential and free of bias.
  • Recuse themselves from manuscripts where they have a conflict of interest.

Misconduct, corrections and retractions

Allegations of plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate publication or other misconduct are investigated following COPE flowcharts. Depending on the outcome, the journal may publish a correction, an expression of concern or a retraction. Retracted articles remain visible with a clear retraction notice.

Complaints

Complaints about the journal’s editorial processes can be sent to editor@jlpis.org. They will be acknowledged within seven days.
