About the Journal
The Journal of Law, Policy & Interdisciplinary Studies (JLPIS) is a peer-reviewed, diamond open-access journal published twice a year. It examines legal and policy questions through the lenses of economics, political science, sociology, history and public administration.
Aims
Law and public policy are rarely shaped by legal reasoning alone. Markets, institutions, social change and history all decide how rules are made, how they work in practice and whom they serve. JLPIS exists to publish scholarship that takes those forces seriously.
- Publish rigorous, original research that connects legal analysis with evidence and theory from the social sciences.
- Give scholars from India and the Global South a credible international venue, while welcoming authors from every jurisdiction.
- Make all research free to read and free to publish, with no article processing charges.
- Bridge academic research and the work of legislators, courts, regulators and civil society.
Scope
We welcome doctrinal, empirical, comparative, historical and theoretical work on, among other areas:
- Constitutional law, federalism and democratic governance
- Administrative law, public administration and regulatory design
- Corporate, commercial, competition and financial regulation
- Criminal justice, policing and penal policy
- Environmental, climate and natural-resource law
- Health law and public-health policy
- Labour, social welfare and social policy
- Law and economics, and the economic analysis of policy
- Legal history and the sociology of law
- Human rights, access to justice and international law
Papers should engage with at least one discipline beyond law, or speak directly to a live policy question. Purely descriptive summaries of statutes or case law are unlikely to be sent for review.
